Description
C01B covers the production, purification, and chemical processing of non-metallic elements and their inorganic compounds, including halogens, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, phosphorus, carbon, and silicon, along with their oxides, halides, sulfides, and other derivatives. This classification encompasses industrial chemical processes such as synthesis, separation, and refining methods specific to these elements and their compounds. It excludes metallic elements and their compounds (covered by C01C), as well as organic compounds derived from non-metallic elements (classified elsewhere in organic chemistry).
