C03C

CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF GLASSES, GLAZES OR VITREOUS ENAMELS; SURFACE TREATMENT OF GLASS; SURFACE TREATMENT OF FIBRES OR FILAMENTS MADE FROM GLASS, MINERALS OR SLAGS; JOINING GLASS TO GLASS OR OTHER MATERIALS

Introduced: September 1968

Description

C03C covers the chemical composition, formulation, and treatment of glasses, glazes, and vitreous enamels, including the specification of raw materials and additives that impart desired optical, thermal, or chemical properties. It also encompasses surface modification techniques applied to glass products and glass-derived fibres or filaments, such as coating, strengthening, or chemical treatments. Additionally, this subclass addresses methods and materials for joining glass to glass or to other substrates through adhesive, thermal, or mechanical bonding processes. Related fibre and filament production itself is classified elsewhere under C03B.
