Glossary

viscosity resistance of a fluid to a change in shape, or movement of neighbouring portions relative to one another. Viscosity denotes opposition to flow. The reciprocal of the viscosity is called the fluidity, a measure of the ease of flow. plasticity ability of certain solids to flow or to change shape permanently when subjected to stresses of intermediate magnitude between those producing temporary deformation, or elastic behaviour, and those causing failure of the material, or rupture.

Application references

measuring characteristics of blood in vivo, e.g. blood viscosity, for medical or veterinary diagnosis

CPC subdivides this area 3x more granularly than IPC with 4 additional codes.

4 codes are CPC-only extensions.

Note: 4 CPC extensions are marked as secondary classification only.
