ELECTRIC POWER NETWORKS; CIRCUIT ARRANGEMENTS OR SYSTEMS FOR SUPPLYING OR DISTRIBUTING ELECTRIC POWER; SYSTEMS FOR STORING ELECTRIC ENERGY

Introduced: September 1968

Description

H02J covers circuit arrangements, control systems, and network configurations for electric power supply, distribution, and storage across generation, transmission, and utilization stages. This subclass encompasses load management, power flow control, grid synchronization, energy storage systems, and integration of renewable or distributed energy sources into electrical networks. Typical technologies include smart grids, microgrids, demand-side management, uninterruptible power supplies, and battery or supercapacitor storage systems. Related generation or conversion technologies (H02K, H02M) and user equipment designs are classified separately.

Of 18 combined children, 9 exist in both systems.

5 codes are CPC-only extensions, 4 exist only in IPC.

Note: 5 CPC extensions are marked as secondary classification only.

1 shared codes have differing titles between IPC and CPC.
