DIFF Subclass Not Allocatable
H05B

ELECTRIC HEATING; ELECTRIC LIGHT SOURCES NOT OTHERWISE PROVIDED FOR; CIRCUIT ARRANGEMENTS FOR ELECTRIC LIGHT SOURCES, IN GENERAL

Introduced: September 1968

Description

This subclass encompasses electric heating devices and light sources that do not fall within other specialized IPC sections, along with their associated circuit control systems. Coverage includes resistance heating elements, electric furnaces, heating appliances, and general-purpose lighting technologies with their switching, dimming, and protective circuits. The classification addresses both the heating/lighting apparatus themselves and the electrical control infrastructure required for their operation, excluding heating and lighting integrated into specific end-use applications covered elsewhere (such as automotive lighting or industrial process heating in specialized classes).

Of 18 combined children, 14 exist in both systems.

4 codes are CPC-only extensions.

Note: 4 CPC extensions are marked as secondary classification only.

6 shared codes have differing titles between IPC and CPC.
