C05B PHOSPHATIC FERTILISERS
Introduced: September 1968
Classification Context
- Section:
- CHEMISTRY; METALLURGY
- Class:
- FERTILISERS; MANUFACTURE THEREOF
- Subclass:
- PHOSPHATIC FERTILISERS
Description
C05B covers the manufacture and composition of fertilizers whose primary nutritive component is phosphorus or phosphate compounds. This includes superphosphates, triple superphosphates, phosphate rock products, and other phosphorus-containing fertilizer formulations, whether simple phosphate salts or complex mixtures with secondary nutrients. The classification encompasses both chemical processes for phosphate conversion and the resulting fertilizer products, but excludes nitrogen-phosphorus or potassium-phosphorus compound fertilizers, which fall under other C05 subclasses.
Scope Notes
Glossary: Fertiliser (fertiliser material) fertiliser fertilisers fertiliser material fertiliser materials Natural or artificial substance containing the chemical elements that improve growth and productiveness of plants. Phosphatic fertiliser phosphatic fertilisers A source of inorganic and/or organic phosphate. Common examples include single superphosphate - (CaH2PO4)16 - having a P2O5 content of circa 18%* and ammonium phosphate, having a P2O5 content of circa 20%*. Thomas phosphate A furnace slag produced in steel-making, containing large amounts of calcium phosphate. Double superphosphate double superphosphates CaH4(PO4)2 - having circa 32% P2O5 present* Triple superphosphate triple superphosphates Ca(H2 PO4)2 having circa 46-48% P2O5 present* | Limiting references: Nitrogenous fertilisers Inorganic fertilisers not covered by subclasses , ; Fertilisers producing carbon dioxide Organic fertilisers not covered by subclasses , , e.g. fertilisers from waste or refuse
