C09F covers natural resins extracted from plants and trees, along with products derived from or used with oils for coating and finishing applications. This includes French polish (shellac-based finishes), drying oils (such as linseed or tung oil) that cure through oxidation, siccatives or drying agents that accelerate oil polymerization, and turpentine as a solvent and distillate product. The classification encompasses both the raw materials themselves and their preparation or treatment for use in paints, varnishes, and protective coatings, excluding synthetic resins and adhesives which are covered separately within C09.
