Description

A47J encompasses mechanical and electrical appliances designed for food preparation, grinding, and beverage production in domestic and light commercial kitchen settings. This classification covers coffee mills, spice grinders, mixers, blenders, food processors, and apparatus for brewing or preparing beverages such as coffee makers and tea infusers. The scope includes both the machines themselves and their functional components (e.g., grinding mechanisms, mixing elements, heating elements) where not classifiable under more specific sections of IPC Class A47 or other classes covering specialized food processing. Adjacent divisions address broader kitchen furniture (A47B) and general domestic appliances, while more specialized food processing equipment may fall under Class A23 when industrially focused.
