B60K

ARRANGEMENT OR MOUNTING OF PROPULSION UNITS OR OF TRANSMISSIONS IN VEHICLES; ARRANGEMENT OR MOUNTING OF PLURAL DIVERSE PRIME-MOVERS IN VEHICLES; AUXILIARY DRIVES FOR VEHICLES; INSTRUMENTATION OR DASHBOARDS FOR VEHICLES; ARRANGEMENTS IN CONNECTION WITH COOLING, AIR INTAKE, GAS EXHAUST OR FUEL SUPPLY OF PROPULSION UNITS IN VEHICLES

Introduced: September 1968

Description

B60K covers the physical arrangement, mounting, and integration of propulsion systems and auxiliary components within vehicles. This includes positioning and structural support of engines, transmissions, and hybrid/multi-fuel power systems, as well as instrumentation, dashboards, and subsystems for cooling, air intake, exhaust, and fuel delivery. The classification encompasses mechanical engineering solutions for vehicle powertrain layout and vehicle-level integration of propulsion units, but excludes the internal design of engines, transmissions, and fuel systems themselves, which fall under separate classes.

Of 24 combined children, 19 exist in both systems.

5 codes are CPC-only extensions.

Note: 5 CPC extensions are marked as secondary classification only.

9 shared codes have differing titles between IPC and CPC.
