Description

E05B covers the design and construction of locks and their constituent components, including mechanisms for securing doors, windows, and other movable barriers. This subclass encompasses mechanical locking devices operated by keys, combination locks, padlocks, and electronic lock systems, along with internal parts such as cylinders, tumblers, and bolts. The classification also includes handcuffs and similar restraint devices, as well as accessories and replacement parts integral to lock functionality. Related lock-mounting hardware and security fittings fall within this scope, excluding only the decorative or purely architectural treatment of doors and windows, which are addressed in adjacent classes.
