H01B

CABLES; CONDUCTORS; INSULATORS; SELECTION OF MATERIALS FOR THEIR CONDUCTIVE, INSULATING OR DIELECTRIC PROPERTIES (selection for magnetic properties H01F1/00; waveguides H01P )

Introduced: September 1968

Description

H01B covers the design, manufacture, and material composition of cables, conductors, and insulators used in electrical systems. This includes bare and insulated wires, multi-conductor cables, coaxial cables, and fiber optic cables, as well as the selection and properties of materials chosen for their electrical conductivity, insulation capability, or dielectric characteristics. The subclass encompasses manufacturing processes specific to cable and conductor production, protective coverings, and mechanical properties of these components. Adjacent classes H01C (resistors) and H01D (electromagnets) are excluded, as are finished apparatus that incorporate these elements.
