H05F

STATIC ELECTRICITY; NATURALLY-OCCURRING ELECTRICITY

Introduced: September 1968

Description

H05F covers electric phenomena arising from static charge accumulation and natural electrical processes. This includes electrostatic generation, control, and application technologies; electrostatic discharge management; and phenomena such as atmospheric electricity, lightning, and bioelectricity. The classification encompasses both harmful effects (e.g., electrostatic damage prevention in manufacturing) and beneficial applications (e.g., electrostatic printing, precipitation, and separation processes). Adjacent classes H05A–H05E address other non-standard electrical techniques, while H05G covers electromagnetic disturbances and radio interference.

IPC and CPC are identically structured here. All 3 subcodes exist in both systems.

2 shared codes have differing titles between IPC and CPC.
