Glossary: speaker verification or authentication refers to verifying that the user claimed identity is real, otherwise he is an imposter. Speaker recognition, or identification, aims at determining who the user is among a closed (finite number) set of users. He is otherwise unknown. imposter imposters someone actively trying to counterfeit someone else’s identity.
