IPC Subgroup
H02P 23/3 Direct torque control [DTC] or field acceleration method [FAM]
Introduced: January 2016
Full Title
Arrangements or methods for the control of AC motors characterised by a control method other than vector control > Direct torque control [DTC] or field acceleration method [FAM]
Classification Context
- Section:
- ELECTRICITY
- Class:
- GENERATION, CONVERSION, OR DISTRIBUTION OF ELECTRIC POWER
- Subclass:
- CONTROL OR REGULATION OF ELECTRIC MOTORS, ELECTRIC GENERATORS OR DYNAMO-ELECTRIC CONVERTERS; CONTROLLING TRANSFORMERS, REACTORS OR CHOKE COILS
Additional Content
DTC Direct torque control is one method used in variable frequency drives to control the torque (and thus finally the speed) of three-phase AC electric motors. This involves calculating an estimate of the motor's magnetic flux and torque based on the measured voltage and current of the motor.
