GENERATION, CONVERSION, OR DISTRIBUTION OF ELECTRIC POWER

Classification Context

Section:
ELECTRICITY
Class:
GENERATION, CONVERSION, OR DISTRIBUTION OF ELECTRIC POWER

Description

H02 encompasses the generation, conversion, and distribution of electrical power across all voltage and power levels, from large-scale utility systems to localized power supplies. This broad class covers technologies such as dynamo-electric machines (generators and motors), transformers, rectifiers, power converters, switchgear, distribution networks, and associated control systems. It includes both conventional power generation methods (fossil fuels, hydroelectric, nuclear) and renewable energy sources (solar, wind, geothermal), as well as energy storage and power quality management devices. Adjacent classes H01 (basic electrical components) and H04 (electric communication techniques) address component-level technologies and signal transmission respectively, whereas H02 focuses on bulk power handling and system-level architecture.
