DEVICES FOR MOVING WINGS INTO OPEN OR CLOSED POSITION; CHECKS FOR WINGS; WING FITTINGS NOT OTHERWISE PROVIDED FOR, CONCERNED WITH THE FUNCTIONING OF THE WING

Introduced: September 1968

Description

E05F covers mechanical devices and hardware that control the movement and positioning of doors, windows, and other hinged panels (wings). This includes closers, dampers, checks, and operators that move wings between open and closed positions, as well as specialized fittings that affect wing function but do not fit within other specific E05 categories. The classification encompasses both manual and automatic systems, from simple friction devices to complex pneumatic or hydraulic mechanisms. It excludes lock mechanisms (covered by E05B-E05D) and basic hinge hardware (covered by E05B).

IPC and CPC are identically structured here. All 9 subcodes exist in both systems.

8 shared codes have differing titles between IPC and CPC.
