NON-PORTABLE LIGHTING DEVICES; SYSTEMS THEREOF; VEHICLE LIGHTING DEVICES SPECIALLY ADAPTED FOR VEHICLE EXTERIORS

Introduced: September 1968

Description

F21S covers stationary and fixed lighting apparatus designed for permanent or semi-permanent installation, including architectural, industrial, and domestic lighting fixtures, as well as specialized lighting systems for vehicle exteriors such as headlights, taillights, and signal lamps. This subclass encompasses the mechanical design, optical elements, heat dissipation, mounting structures, and control systems specific to these non-portable applications. Vehicle lighting devices classified here are those adapted to the exterior of vehicles, while portable or handheld lighting devices fall under related classes. The scope includes both traditional lamp-based systems and modern light-emitting diode (LED) fixtures designed for these fixed-installation contexts.

Of 15 combined children, 13 exist in both systems.

2 codes are CPC-only extensions.

Note: 2 CPC extensions are marked as secondary classification only.

6 shared codes have differing titles between IPC and CPC.
