Section:
PHYSICS
Class:
PHOTOGRAPHY; CINEMATOGRAPHY; ANALOGOUS TECHNIQUES USING WAVES OTHER THAN OPTICAL WAVES; ELECTROGRAPHY; HOLOGRAPHY
Subclass:
PHOTOSENSITIVE MATERIALS FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC PURPOSES; PHOTOGRAPHIC PROCESSES, e.g. CINE, X-RAY, COLOUR OR STEREO-PHOTOGRAPHIC PROCESSES; AUXILIARY PROCESSES IN PHOTOGRAPHY

Description

G03C covers photographic films, plates, papers, and emulsions designed to capture and record images through light exposure, including silver halide and other light-sensitive compositions. This subclass encompasses conventional color, black-and-white, X-ray, cinematographic, and stereoscopic photographic processes, as well as auxiliary techniques such as image development, fixing, sensitization, and post-exposure treatments. The classification extends to photosensitive layers, coating methods, and chemical formulations that enable photographic image formation across various media and applications. Related optical and digital imaging technologies are excluded; see G03B for photographic apparatus and G03F for photomechanical processes.

Scope Notes

Glossary: Emulsion emulsions Dispersion, i.e. a distribution of finely divided particles in a medium Optical Applies to visible light, but also to ultraviolet radiation or infrared radiation Photosensitive composition photosensitive compositions Photosensitive substance, e.g. silver halide, and, if applicable, binder or additives Photosensitive material Photosensitive materials Photosensitive composition, e.g. emulsion, the base carrying it, and, if applicable, auxiliary layers | Limiting references: Photographic processes characterised by the use or manipulation of apparatus classifiable per se in subclass | Application references: Photographic emulsion plates or blocks in which tracks of nuclear particles are made visible by after-treatment
